BEST AND WORST POKEMON GENERATIONS (SO FAR).

Pokemon has been around for a long time and is still in business. It boasts 122 games as of the writing date and continues to be popular. While it has its lows and highs, there is no doubt that each generation brings something that will make the next game better. Even the greatest mistakes of one generation can make a huge difference in the performance of the next. So, which generation is worth paying attention and which should be ignored? These are the best and worst Pokemon generations!

GENERATION 1

BEST: IT WAS THE FIRST GOAL!

Pokemon RedBlueis both the first (and to many best) Pokemongame. Pokemon has been a global phenomenon since 1996. It is now available in merchandise, TV programs, card games, and parades all around the globe. it isn’t slowing down with games such as Pokemon Legends and Pokemon Brilliant Jewel, and Shining Pearl. Many of the fans can testify to Yellow and Blue being a big part of their childhoods. They are still the most popular Pokemon games in series history.

WORST: IT WAS NOT THE FIRST GAME

Let’s face it, the first generation of games was barely able to hold their own. Its bugs and exploits have been well documented over time, some that affect all games, while others that affect only the Japanese and English versions.

MissingNo. Its legendary glitch of item duplication. Speedrunners can manipulate the game’s code with the bag and certain movements. This allows them to encounter Pokemon that aren’t normally available in their version. A trick can even give you Level 100 Nidoking without you ever touching the first gym.

These are great as long as they don’t ruin your save or game cart. The Psychic type is not fun. Back then, using Psychic Pokemon was considered cheating because the only Ghost types in Kanto (the Gengar lines) were Poison, which is weaker than Psychic. The Ghost type was wrong. Psychic was insensitive to Ghost type attacks in Gen 1.

Dark and Steel were not available because they were created to fight Psychic types. Your best choice was Bug types. But even then, that won’t be a solution. The attacks of most Bug-type Pokemon were also weak. Scyther can’t learn any Bug type moves. Sabrina is a Gym Leader who is known for being tough. It is best to save this for after you have defeated Erika and Koga.

This is just one issue. One stat, Special Attack and Special Defense, was Speed. This made Slash Persian Crit 100%. Fishing Pokemon in indoor pools…it was a mess of poor design choices.

GENERATION 2

BEST: THE POST GAME

Your playthrough is more extended by the post-game. The late, great SatoruIwata managed to fit all of Kanto into the game. This means that there are eight more badges to earn, new Pokemon to catch, and new areas to explore. It’s something that has never been done in another game. They really went all out to make this the final Pokemon game.

Red, the former player character, is the only thing that can match his excitement. He is not even known to exist; he simply waited at the top Mt. For a good fight, Silver. Red has the highest level Pokemon, and his Pikachu is a monster level 81 equipped using a Light Ball. Red won’t give up easily and Pikachu can sweep half of your team if you don’t have a Ground type. I wouldn’t want it any other way.

JOHTO POKEMON: WORST

When you start a new game, the prospect of getting new Pokemon is exciting. Unfortunately, the majority of the new Pokemon will not be available until you reach Kanto. You would have an established team, with the appropriate levels, by then you can catch anything.

You would have to make a lot of effort to get them if you really want them. Hitmontop is one example. To make your Tyrogue a one-of-a-kind, you must have equal Attack and Defense stats. You’ll be able to get a Hitmonlee and Hitmonchan if your Tyrogue has even one point difference. Make sure your Tyrouge is neutral!

To add salt to the wound, Johto Gym Leaders seldom have Johto Pokémon in their teams.

Johto Starters are considered the worst starters in the series. They are quickly outclassed by their limited movepools and insistence on staying pure Grass Water and Fire types. The Meganium line is the worst. It is difficult to train a Chikorita, especially when the first Gym is a Flying type. Grass, a Pokemon that is more defensive than offensive, is one of the most dangerous defensive types in the series. It has 5 weaknesses. Feraligatr is the best, but it’s slow. There are better Water types to replace it.

GENERATION 3

BEST: THE BATTLE FRONTIER

For those who are looking for a challenge, there is a post-game area. If you want to be able to defeat the Frontier Brains, you must have a diverse strategy and team. There are many ways to play in Battle Frontier. You can use rental Pokemon or you can win a 100-point endurance test. You’ll also be rewarded with exclusive items that you won’t find anywhere else in the game.

Good luck to anyone who wants to win gold medals. But, the average player won’t do much here. They won’t go further than testing it out if they don’t like competitive battling.

WORST: REMOVING MANY FEATURES

It’s obvious to just throw it away after using such innovative methods as following Pokemon or day-and-night cycle cycles.
