Speedrunner Thrills New Pokemon Game in 30 Minutes
The Pokemon Switch versions of Shining Pearl and Brilliant Diamond are out now. Here’s our review of the former. Pocket monster-lovers are slowly making their way through the fantasy-filled adventures, peeking, poking, and scrapping around Sinnoh and generally having a wonderful time.
Speedrunners are another option. They aren’t slow down to admire the sights, smell the Floettes, or stroke their furry Pokemon friends they have locked up in those tiny blinking orbs. Oh no! These speed runners are here to do one thing: break down these games and beat them as quickly as possible. Werster, one of these speedrunners, set a new any% record and we are pretty certain it was.
After a record-breaking 33 minutes on November 29, Werster went even faster today, finishing the race in under 30 minutes. The player admitted that they “choked” during this run after being on track for a 28-minute run. This record-breaking finish of 29.46 won’t be around for long.
Some of these comments are filled with disbelief. One commenter said that “a lot of Pokemon speedruns were pretty normal”, before adding, “This, however I don’t know what is happening most of the time.” You can just go with the flow, friend. Another simply said, “I’m speechless.” We are proud of Werster and can’t wait for you to go faster.
