Players have discovered the best ways to use Happy Chaos as well as the DLC characters since the November 30 update. These characters have so far worked as follows:

  • Goldlewis Dickinson- A slow but solid juggernaut who suffers on defense but has an insuffocating offense full of disjointed attacks and guard breaks that cause high damage (Notable players are Gobou).
  • Jack-O – Jack-O is a tricky pet-based fighter who controls the match when her servants are absent. If used properly, Servants can be used to cover her offense and stop her opponent from making any advances. Lack of strong meterless reversal options can cause problems in defense. (Notable players: LostSoul, Kazunoko, Purepure, SonicFox)
  • Happy Chaos – A versatile character who can play both heavy rushdown and effective zoning if his shooting resources have been well maintained. He can strike from close or far but his invulnerability leaves him with very limited defense options. (Notable players: Gobou, Kazunoko, SonicFox)

The tier list is the same as before, and looks like this:

  • S Tier: Sol Badguy, Nagoriyuki
  • A Tier: Potemkin, I-no, Giovanna, May, Leo Whitefang, Zato-1, Chipp Zanuff, Ramlethal Valentine
  • B Tier: Faust, Ky Kiske, Goldlewis Dickinson, Millia Rage, Axl Low, Jack-O, Anji Mito

As Guilty Gear Strive patches have been released, Nagoriyuki’s tier has steadily increased to S. His players have been consistently proving that he is a well-rounded character who can provide answers in every offensive or defensive situation. The A-tier characters Potemkin and Leo Whitefang, Zato-1 and Giovanna are strong performers and are often chosen by top players at major Guilty gear Strive tournaments.

The B Tier characters are characters who generate enormous pressure when momentum is theirs, but struggle more when it is taken away from them.

We’ll wait for Baiken’s 2022 release to see if there are any changes in the “Adjust the Strong and Buff the Underperforming” approach to major updates. Also, we will be watching closely for signs that this returning character will significantly shape the meta.

Arc System Works will soon release the next major update with the launch Guilty Gear Strave Update 1.10 Patch. Important updates such as this usually mean major changes to the game meta and tier lists. We’ll update this page as soon after the new patch is released.

How To Read Tier Lists

Tier lists should not be taken to mean that every fighting game is true. A character’s ranking on tier lists does not automatically mean that they are strong. The character ranking in the tier lists can be very different for each person, making it an unreliable tool that can even cause arguments.

To fully use tier lists, players need to treat them as a study. They can only conclude once they have accumulated many tier list. Players should not accept one tier list as their only source. We have compiled a few tier lists of Guilty Gear Strive players around the globe to help us determine who is the best and most reliable. At the time of writing…
